Restore CNY Statement of Faith

We believe in Scripture.  We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, sufficient, inerrant, authoritative Word of God and is the final authority for all matters of faith and conduct.
2 Tim. 3:16; Matt 5:18; John 10:35

We believe in God.  We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son Jesus and Holy Spirit.  We believe that God created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them out of nothing, by His Word.  We believe that God created man and woman in His image as the primary example of marriage, but because Adam and Eve disobeyed God, we all inherited a sin nature.  We became sinful and separate from God and were in need of a Savior to save us from sins and the penalty for our sins and restore us to fellowship with God.
John 1:14; Gen 1:1-31; Isa 45:12; Rom 6:23

We believe in Jesus.  We believe Lord Jesus Christ in his being fully man and fully God, in his virgin birth, in his sinless life, in his miracles, in his death on the cross, in his bodily resurrection, in his ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in his personal return.
Matt 1:23; Rev 22; Heb 4:15

We believe in Salvation.  We believe that Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to Scripture, as a substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who personally put their faith in Christ as their substitute and receive Him into their lives as their Lord and Savior are justified on the grounds of His shed blood, and thereby become children of God and are restored to fellowship with Him.  We believe that salvation and eternal life with God are free gifts, which are received by grace through faith in Christ and cannot be earned.  We believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation and fellowship with God.

Rom 3:23; Rom 4:25; Eph 2:8-9

We believe in church as a community.  We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and are commanded to love each other despite differences of race, gender, privilege, social, political, and economic background and to be of one mind whenever possible.

John 12:34-35; Gal 3:28-29; Phil 2:2
